Kaness' History

Calla is a country with an ancient, long forgotten curse on it which causes monsters to specifically attack their people. To fight against the monsters, it is mandatory for children from the age of 8 to 16 to be trained in the basic arts of war (ie: fighting, healing, archery), to help in local defenses.

Kaness was born the slums of the capital of Calla.  He is the youngest of many siblings, but since most of his brothers and sisters have left home for good, he never knew them at all.  As a child, Kaness had something similar to autism, so he is extremely quiet and seemed kinda slow. Most people thought he was either mute or mentally stunned. His father was abusive, and made him to do heavy labors at a young age. Because of that, Kaness was trained to obey orders and also developed an extraordinary blunt strength

When Kaness was 8 years old, his parents had a fight concerning whether or not to send him to a faraway public school (which is free in exchange for future military services), his father being strongly against it because most of his children never came back (figures), or were killed on the battlefield.  His mother, on the other hand, believes that anything is better than a life of poverty in the slums. During the fight, Kaness got thrown out of house, presumably for a night or two to satisfy his father's anger, but surprisingly, he made his own decision and walked away to find the school himself. 

Somehow, Kaness managed to make it to the school on his own. While all the older instructors refused to take him in because he seemed too dull, an optimistic new instructor, Cecil, decided to take Kaness under his wings. Needless to say, most of Kaness' classmates took advantage of his submissive nature, and gave him all the chores to do. Kaness himself did not seem to mind, since none of the chores could be compared to the ones that he had to do at home. The only person who voluntarily shared his work and guarded him from seriously being a doormat was a girl named Jennin, who was fond of him because of his simple nature.

Over time, Cecil tried to teach Kaness to stand up and think for himself, without any apparent success. However, it turned out to be not in vain. When the school was attacked by monsters one year, Jennin went missing because one of her friends was stuck under bricks. Kaness went against all rules to find her, and the three of them were saved by Cecil in the end. It was then when he became impressed with the idea of being a glaiver (Cecil's soldier class, and the most respected soldier class in Calla) so that he can defend other people against harm.

References: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 <-(The colors are basically light blue for the shirt, darker blue for the trousers, silver for the shoulder protectors + the metal part of the belt, and brown for the rest of the leather accessories.  The blue colors are sort of faded from being worn. )

Jennin's History:

Unlike Kaness, Jennin had a mostly normal childhood and life. She is well-liked by her peers due to her caring nature, and she unknowing had a great effect on Kaness because she reached out to him. Jennin was actually a bit afraid of Kaness at first because Kaness almost never spoke at all, but she quickly grew to like him when she observed his gentle and hard-working qualities.

It doesn't really matter HOW you loop her hair, but the 2nd and 4th picture would be the most usual way she does it.

Other Comments:

- Callians are not fancy people. They dress in down-to-earth clothings with a few embroideries, and their fighting attires usually consist of light armor and some accessories made of leather.

- Kaness's weapon of choice is a glaive. It is made of a material that can deflect magic, and glaivers are traditionally paired up with archers to protect them from aerial monsters who can cast magic.

- All of Kaness' facial expressions are very mild when they actually mean a lot more.  For example, a small smile would indicate that he is very happy, a fall in his eyebrows might imply that he is deeply hurting, and a slight narrowing of his eyes could mean that he is about to kill.

- I have no reason to believe anyone would draw Kaness topless, but just in case, there is a huge scar running diagonally from his left chest to his right abdomen.
